Arsenal: Our Environmental Policy

Emirates Stadium
Emirates Stadium

Arsenal Holdings PLC and its associated group companies (the “Arsenal Group”) are committed to reducing our environmental impact and adapting to the impact of climate change.

This policy is part of our bigger commitment to encourage ethical, social and environmental responsibility. We reflect our key values – Always Move Forward, Be Together and Actions That Matter – by taking direct action to lower our environmental footprint and encourage others to do the same.

Who does this apply to?

Our policy applies to all the Arsenal family: colleagues, casual workers, volunteers and individual consultants/contractors, fans and community. We all have a duty to understand and work towards our commitments below.

What is our policy for?

Climate change is an unprecedented issue for our whole planet, causing more extreme weather events that impact both nature and people everywhere. Unless we all take action today, it will be harder and more costly to adapt to this impact in the future.

Our policy’s purpose is to:

1. Reduce the environmental footprint of our operations.

2. Adapt to the effects of climate change.

3. Encourage everyone to look after the environment through our communications.

Our commitments

•Reduce our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with our net zero target (approved by the Science Based Target initiative) – this requires a 42 per cent reduction by 2030.

•Power all our sites with 100 per cent renewable electricity.

•Reduce our use of natural resources and our waste, and minimise pollution caused by our activities.

•Improve our water efficiency and reduce our reliance on mains-supplied water.

•Strive to move towards using more sustainable types of transport wherever possible.

•Encourage and share best practice with our supporters, suppliers and other external stakeholders to encourage their decarbonisation and the reduction of their environmental impact.

•Consider the environmental impact of our purchasing decisions.

•Provide education and training for all of our colleagues about the climate crisis and empower them to take action.

•Use our internal and external communications to encourage everyone to take care of our planet.

•Understand and manage the risks climate changes poses to our work, facilities and the health and safety of our colleagues.

•Ensure we comply with all relevant environmental legislation and standards.

•Report on all our performance in relation to achieving our targets with an annual Impact Report.

•Seek continuous improvement in reducing our emissions and environmental performance.

Our responsibilities

All of us at Arsenal should be aware of our Environmental Policy, plus understand and support our commitments within it. It’s our managers’ jobs to make sure their teams are working towards our commitments. Our Operational Governance Committee will review how effective our Environmental Policy is and make sure we’re all following it throughout the club.

Please email any questions or enquiries to our Environmental Sustainability Manager Mike Lloyd at [email protected].

Next steps

We will review our policy each year to make sure it is working effectively. We last reviewed it on April 29, 2025.
